Le Telfair takes its look from the old sugar estates of Bel Ombre: white pavilions, canopy beds, wooden floors and verandas over the gardens. The south coast is greener and wilder than the north, and far less built up.
The half-board plan is unusually flexible. It covers Annabella's, Le Palmier, C Beach Club and O'Grill at Le Château golf course, and the Gourmet Bliss plan opens up almost every restaurant across the Bel Ombre estate, including dinner at the 19th-century Château de Bel Ombre.
Golfers have Le Château and La Réserve Golf Links on the doorstep, and couples can book the adult-only wing. Families are well served too, with a free baby club and a teens programme. The trade-off is distance: Bel Ombre is a long way from the north coast and Port Louis.
